A tent or covered area where the child receiving compliments can sit.
Instructions
Pitch, or create a small tent area, where children can enter and sit in a comfortable place.
Ask other children to volunteer to go in one at a time and give a compliment to the child in the tent.
Ensure the child receiving the compliment just says ‘thank you’ after each comment and doesn’t initiate a discussion.
Teacher Notes
Give the ‘volunteers’ ideas on what compliments are - get them to think about qualities, or skills that the child in the tent has, or things that they like about the person in the tent.
It is advisable to have someone supervising inside the tent to make sure that all remarks are compliments!
