ENGAGE IN OUTDOOR PLAY AND EXERCISE.
Resources
Clues (written on paper or in the form of objects), treasure map (optional).
Instructions
Create a set of treasure hunt clues to lead children around a designated area (e.g. school grounds, playground, classroom, etc.)
Ensure to create multiple copies if you intend to split children into groups or put them up on the board for children to note down.
Leave something at each location that children can note down to show evidence of finding each clue, for example:
Letters from a word that can be spelled out once all clues are collected (e.g. 5 clues = H A P P Y)
The Keys to Happiness - print out our 5 Keys to Happiness posters in miniature and leave a handful at each location
Key facts/terms linked to a curriculum theme (e.g. parts of speech - English, number patterns - Maths, etc.)
Split children into groups (or allow them to complete individually), hand over the clues and leave them to explore!
Teacher Notes
Treasure hunts can easily be built around specific lessons or subjects by choosing clues that relate to your topic.
For a quicker activity, print out our 5 Keys to Happiness posters and hide them outside for children to find.
