putting the happiness and wellbeing of children at the heart of school life.
Over the past 5 years, Thameside Primary School has participated in every aspect of the INSIDE OUT programme. Over 150 children have attended Magical Days Out, School Toolbox activities have been used in every classroom and all their teachers have received wellbeing training.
Thameside has also piloted our Happiness Index measurement tool and completed our Happiness Health Check as part of our comprehensive assessment process. We have visited the school often and talked with children, senior leaders and teachers.
INSIDE OUT has been embedded into the curriculum and daily school life, benefitting all of the school’s 420 children.
Children talk clearly about the 5 Keys to Happiness and actively use them.
The 5 Keys to Happiness are integrated into PSHE.
There is a Reflection Room linked to the 5 Keys to Happiness.
Children and teachers relate to each other better.
Displays, assemblies and lessons reinforce the 5 Keys to Happiness.
On Wednesday 10th July there was a big assembly for the whole school to celebrate their achievements and receive their Award.
There was singing, dancing … and even dabbing! And the children loved the balloon arch and all the bubbles at the end.
Thameside has even changed their school motto:
The INSIDE OUT Award is the first wellbeing award of its kind and we hope other schools will follow Thameside’s inspiring lead. Thanks to them, we’re one step closer to our vision of a world where the happiness of children is as important as their academic achievement.
