A week after our first day with INSIDE OUTers at Checkendon, their teacher at Thameside Primary School, Ingrid Burton, emailed to say:
“I just had to share this idea to show what an effect INSIDE OUT is having! I am planning my RE lesson for the week and we are looking at the theme of ‘belonging.’ The children are working together to set themselves up as a group which has an identity of its own because of what it believes in. One group of INSIDE OUTers has decided to make happiness their big idea. They will design a logo and agree on the 3 most important things members of the group need to do to join. I can’t wait to see what they come up with!!!!”
Check out some of the children’s work below…
It’s great to see ideas from their magical day being expressed as part of their curriculum back at school.
Our day together was about the 5 Keys to Happiness. About being kind to the horses because then they will be kind back. About how feeling the weather inside can help us feel good about ourselves. About giving things a go, not getting something right or wrong. How cool that the children have put their own spin on these ideas and think they are important to belong and be happy.
‘Respect people’s feelings.
Be ready to report the weather.
Be willing to have a go.’
